Caravan Parks
Seabreeze Tourist Park, Airlie Beach Queensland

For Airlie Beach accommodation we stayed at the Seabreeze Tourist Park, Cannonvale Qld and we thought it was the overall best Caravan Park in Airlie Beach.
Table of Contents
Seabreeze Tourist Park Accommodation
The Seabreeze Tourist Park is directly opposite the ocean waters of the famous Whitsundays and is an easy boardwalk stroll to the Marina and township of Airlie Beach.
Accommodation at the tourist park includes Cabins, Villas and Bungalows as well as Powered and Unpowered sites.

Seabreeze Tourist Park Facilities
There are two pools within the Seabreeze Caravan Park with the newer one at the back and including a good small fun park. There is also another basic pool at the front of the complex.
The amenities block is unique with individual bathrooms with a shower and toilet.
A great Camp kitchen is onsite with BBQ’s and kitchen facilities provided for all the guests.

We had excellent phone coverage with Telstra, Vodafone and Optus and there is Free Wifi also available.
Are pets allowed at Seabreeze Tourist Park?
The park is Pet friendly, we had our Golden Retriever MACKS with us.
The staff at the Seabreeze Tourist Park are all very friendly and helpful to book tours and arranging any possible discounts. They also have an area to store your rig at a very reasonable cost while you travel to the islands.

With no Free Camping in Airlie Beach we found the Seabreeze Tourist Park was very good value for money accommodation.
A Shopping Centre is within easy walking distance next door and includes Coles and other range of shops plus the popular Banjo’s Tavern.
Cost to stay was $35 per night for 2 adults plus $10 extra for Matthew. During our stay there was a Stay 7 nights and pay for 6 nights offer available.
Our stay was 27th April to 16th May 2016

7 Essentials – Tours to Experience
- Reefsleep in the Whitsundays is an amazing adventure. Spend the night on a pontoon sleeping in a swag on Hardy’s Reef in the Great Barrier Reef
- The Ocean Rafting tour from Airlie Beach is a truly fun day out. They took us to the best snorkeling places and the entire day was amazing
- For the best Full Day Island tour in Cairns we recommend the Fitzroy Island tour
- The Humpback Whale Swim in Exmouth remains one of our ultimate highlights of our time around Australia. We highly recommend doing this tour
- If you are on the East Coast, you can swim with Humpback Whales on the Sunshine Coast. The tour leaves from Mooloolaba
- Swimming with Whale Sharks at Exmouth is also extremely popular and a great day out with the team from Eco Adventures on Lattitude 22
- One of Tasmania’s best tours is the Tasman Island Cruise with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys out of Port Arthur. Three hours of cruising the highest sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere and enjoying an up close look at hundreds of seals as well as dolphins and birdlife.

Things to do in Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays
During our stays here we have been able to really explore the Whitsundays and everything it has to offer.

Whitsundays Tours
There are so many fabulous tours that you can do in the Whitsundays. Here are our 3 favourite tours:

Reefsleep
Ever wanted to sleep under the stars in a Swag on a Pontoon out on the majestic Great Barrier Reef?
Read all about our Reefsleep experience: Us, a Swag, a Pontoon and a lot of water
You’ll enjoy spending your day snorkelling, lazing on the pontoon, checking out the coral from the semi-submersible glass bottom boat and then spend the night gazing at the stars.
Book your Reefsleep Experience here>

Ocean Rafting Northern Exposure Tour
If you are looking for a fast fun tour in the Whitsundays, you’ll have the ride of your life on an Ocean Rafting Tour. We chose the Northern Exposure Tour as it offers more snorkelling time. The Southern Lights Tour spends more time at the southern end of Whitehaven Beach and a little less time snorkelling.
Read about our Ocean Rafting: Ocean Rafting the Great Barrier Reef in Whitsundays
Both Ocean Rafting tours include snorkelling and time on the spectacular Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island, the largest of the 74 islands in the Whitsundays.

Atlantic Clipper Day Tour
Our most recent tour in the Whitsundays was on the majestic Atlantic Clipper which has 2 slides and a spa pool on board.
The Atlantic Clipper is the largest boat touring the Whitsundays and the floating playground is heaps of fun not just for the young, but for all ages!
It includes a great day of snorkelling, fun on the slides, soaking up the sun on deck or in the spa, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and a sensational sunset sail on the return trip back to the marina.

Coral Beach
Drive out to Shute Harbour and take the short bushwalk to the amazing Coral Beach from the car park at Shutehaven.
Views of nearby Daydream Island with parts of South Molle and North Molle Islands can be seen from Coral Beach which is aptly named for the millions of coral fragments that cover the shore.

Caravan Parks
Sunset Caravan Park, Karumba Queensland

The Sunset Caravan Park in Karumba is perfectly positioned opposite the beach, river and boat ramp.
Karumba is located in the Gulf of Carpentaria in tropical Queensland approximately 70kms north from Normanton.
It is best known for it’s fishing and fantastic sunsets.

The Sunset Hotel is nearby and offers excellent meals, a great spot for a few drinks while you enjoy the amazing sunset view.
The Sunset Caravan Park is positioned at Karumba Point, at the mouth of the Norman River opposite the boat ramp.

Table of Contents
Sunset Caravan Park Amenities
The Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park has a good in-ground pool, perfect for those hot afternoons after a day out fishing.
There are 2 amenities blocks and free WiFi is available from the Reception area. There is also a great fish cleaning zone, perfect given it’s a fishing village.
Are Pets allowed at the Sunset Caravan Park?
Sunset Caravan Park is pet friendly and therefore dogs are permitted.
5 Essentials – Outside RV Accessories
- To plug your RV with standard 15amp in to standard residential 10amp power source you will need a converter. We love our waterproof Ampfibian and after over 4 years it’s still perfect.
- Most people carry a Generator for back up power. 4wd Supacentre has a good low cost and popular generator while the Yamaha 2000w is a robust yet quiet excellent performer.
- A 20m 15amp Power Lead will ensure you reach your power source in Caravan Parks and Campgrounds.
- You will want a good blue Drinking Water Hose. Your typical green garden hose is not suitable for drinking from.
- A 4 way tap handle will help you find water whenever you need it

Telstra coverage is very very slow, it was no better than dial up during our stay.
The park does get busy during peak times so it’s best to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
Cost to stay at the Sunset Caravan Park was $43 for a powered site for 2 adults and an extra $13 for another adult.
Update August 2020: Cost to stay is $45 for a powered site for 2 adults. Extra Adult remains $13 a night and children 12-16yo is an extra $9 per night. Children under 12 are free. Unpowered site is $33 for 2 Adults.
Our stay was 31st July to 1st August 2017

Fishing
Fishing is very popular in Karumba and a primary feature for many visitors. You can fish from the shore along the Norman River or take your boat out offshore.
Experience the sensational Sunsets
The Sunsets are also stunning and can be watched from various places along the foreshore. The Sunset Hotel is a popular location but there are many vantage points to enjoy the views.
Visit the Barramundi Discovery Centre
The Les Wilson Barramundi Discovery Centre is now open in Karumba. It looks a fabulous place and tours are available. It wasn’t built when we were there but we will definitely head there when we go back.

Caravan Parks
Coolum Beach Holiday Park, Sunshine Coast

Coolum Beach is our favourite place on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and the perfect place to stay is the Coolum Beach Holiday Park.
It’s located just a few short steps from the beautiful Coolum Beach and is opposite all the shops you could need.
Coles, Dan Murphy’s, Coffee Club, Banks, Mitre 10 and lots of cafes and restaurants are all within walking distance.

Coolum Beach is approx an hour and a half drive north of Brisbane and is only 15 minutes south of Noosa’s famous beaches.
Table of Contents
Coolum Beach Holiday Park Facilities
The Coolum Beach Holiday Park has a great camp kitchen, there are 3 amenity blocks to choose from and games for everyone including pool and table tennis.
Each Site has power and water and there is a dump point also.
Free Wifi is also available at the Coolum Beach Holiday Park.

Are pets allowed at the Coolum Beach Holiday Park?
The park is pet friendly and therefore dogs are allowed. Dogs are also allowed off leash on Coolum Beach but only north of the Caravan Park.
There is no pool in the park but the beach is at your doorstep. Lifesavers patrol the beach, remember to swim between the flags.
We had great phone coverage with Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.

How to get to Coolum Beach Holiday Park
Coolum is 20kms from Noosa and approximately a 90 minute drive north from Brisbane. Maroochydore to Coolum Beach is also approximately a 20 minute drive north.
The Coolum Beach Holiday Park is right in the heart of Coolum next door to the Coolum Beach Surf Club.

5 Essentials – Ryobi Tools for Traveling
- A chainsaw certainly is an essential tool while traveling especially when camping and 4WDing. Perfect for cutting up wood for the campfire and ideal for clearing tracks of fallen branches when 4WDing. I really like the Ryobi Chainsaw and will be looking to buy one very soon to match all of my other Ryobi tools.
- The Ryobi Cordless Hand Vacuum has been super handy for the motorhome while traveling and now it is also great to use in our 4WD.
- Even prior to traveling, I have always used a Ryobi Cordless Drill. They are an essential tool for use at home and while on the road.
- We have had heaps of use from our Ryobi 18v Area Light. It’s great for fishing, camping and outdoor entertaining and even when we want to save power at night while free camping. Just charge it up the next day when you have solar.
- There are so many uses for our Ryobi Blower while traveling. Blowing the leaves off the top of the slideout before bringing it in, accelerating the campfire, clearing away any dirt, grass or sand from around your campsite.
While staying here I can recommend to climb up Mount Coolum. I have done it several times and the views from the top are amazing.
Also take a day trip to the incredible Noosa National Park and walk the path to see the stunning beaches and bays.
For some great ideas about what to do while you are staying here at the Coolum Beach, read our ideas for 15 Fantastic Things to Do on the Sunshine Coast.

Next door is the Coolum Beach Surf Club with good food, a great bar and fantastic views over the beach. The pizzas are excellent.
When looking for Sunshine Coast accommodation we really enjoy staying at Coolum Beach Holiday Park and it is one of our very favourite Caravan Parks to stay in around Australia.
Read more: Our best tips on How to Save Money when staying at Caravan Parks.
Watch our video below for all the details and views of Coolum Beach Holiday Park.
Cost to stay was $47 per night for 2 adults on a powered site. We enjoyed a special rate of Stay 4 days and only pay for 3. Ask for any deals available.
Our stay was 16-19th February 2018
Popular Attractions close to Coolum Beach Holiday Park

Mount Coolum
For the fit and energenic, Mount Coolum at 208m, is a popular mountain to climb. It takes approximately 1.5 -2hrs to do the 1.6km return walk.
Also you need to allow time to soak up the magnificent views from the summit of Mount Coolum.
Initially the track is easy then the path becomes rather steep and rocky towards the top of the mountain so care should be taken to keep clear of the cliff edge.

Noosa National Park
A walk through the Noosa National Park is definitely recommended. The coastal walk takes you past the Boiling Pot to Tea Tree Bay around Dolphin Point to Granite Bay, Winch Cove, Picnic Cove and onto Fairy Pool finishing at Hell’s Gates.
To do the entire walk, it will take approx 4 hours return. We have only made it as far as Granite Bay so we definitely need to return and do the entire walk to Hell’s Gates.

The Ginger Factory
Be sure to visit The Ginger Factory, it is just 17kms from Coolum Beach Holiday Park.
Originally at Buderim and now at Yandina, admission to The Ginger Factory is free. It offers fun for the whole family with fun rides, tours, sub-tropical gardens, a cafe and a retail precinct.
Board the 100 year old sugar cane train ‘Moreton’ and take a relaxing ride through the 9 hectares of gardens. You can also take a guided tour of the Buderim Ginger Factory, enjoy tastings and learn how ginger is grown and turned into delicious ginger products. Plus there is a live bee show and tastings.

Nutworks
Also in Yandina, directly opposite The Ginger Factory is Nutworks. Nutworks is home to the Macadamia Nut.
Not only do they have a great range of macamadias, chocolate, confectionery and gifts, you can also taste and learn how the delicious nuts are produced.
