Beachport Caravan Park, Beachport South Australia

Beachport Caravan Park

We had 2 nights at the Beachport Caravan Park on our south coast trip along the Limestone Coast in South Australia.

This small Seaside town might lack in size but it pulls a massive punch is what it offers an ocean and beach going lover.

On one side of town there’s an exquisite Bay, Rivoli Bay, with turquoise waters, sandy beaches and calm waters.

The other side is rugged, cliff faced, ocean front with surf beaches and rocky outcrops.

Beachport is a beautiful yet quiet town waiting to be explored.

Welcome to Beachport

About Beachport

Beachport is located approximately 85 kms north west from Mount Gambier in South Australia.

Robe is around 50 kms north from Beachport and Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia is 310 kms north west from Beachport.

The population of Beachport is only 650 people making it a small community which enjoys much needed tourism during the summer months.

Rivoli Bay is home to Beachport’s fishing fleet and the opposite side of the bay is the town of Southend.

Beachport Jetty is just 400m from the Beachport Caravan Park
Beachport Jetty is just 400 metres from the Beachport Caravan Park

There’s plenty to see and do in Beachport. Swim, surf and go fishing or send the boat for access to some great fishing spots.

Play a few rounds at the Beachport Golf Club located behind the Beachport Caravan Park.

Eat out at some excellent Cafes and the Beachport Hotel or try the local Bakery in town.

There’s a scenic tourist drive well worth the drive and lots more to do during your stay.

Property Amenities at Beachport Caravan Park

Since our stay there has been upgrades to the facilities at the Beachport Caravan Park.

The amenities have been modernised and there’s an excellent Camp kitchen with free electric BBQ facilities.

The Camp kitchen also provides an oven, cooktops, microwave, fridge a TV and Free Wifi.

Beachport Caravan Park Amenities

Laundry facilities are also available.

It’s in a great position opposite the beach and Jetty with an easy walk to town and the Golf Course is across the road the opposite side of the beach.

We had good coverage with the Telstra network however with Vodafone it was only one bar and slow.

At the time of our stay there was no Free Wifi however it is now available in the Camp kitchen.

Is the Beachport Caravan Park Pet Friendly?

The Beachport Caravan Park is pet friendly at the Manager’s discretion.

It’s great to have a pet friendly caravan park so close to the beach. We stayed here with MACKS our Golden Retriever.

Pet Friendly Beachport Caravan Park

A couple of things to be aware of at Beachport Caravan Park:

There is no dump point in the Caravan Park, a public dump point is available a short drive away.

Sites can be a little tight for Caravans. The Owners are currently re-developing some of the grounds to provide larger sites.

It can get very windy here, especially on the sites overlooking the beach. It might pay to check expected wind conditions prior to putting out your awning.

There is no pool, but you’ve got a very big pool just across the road.

We enjoyed our stay at Beachport and look forward to returning to explore more of the area and catch some fish next time.

Entry to Beachport Caravan Park

Beachport Caravan Park Fees

The cost to stay at the Beachport Caravan Park is $30 per night plus $7 for our adult son Matthew.
Update April 2022:
Powered sites are $35 per night. An extra $10 per person over 4yo.

Our stay was 17-18th March 2017

Beachport Jetty

What popular attractions are close to Beachport Caravan Park

Beachport Jetty

Originally over 1.2 metres in length, the Beachport Jetty is now 772 metres and the second longest jetty in South Australia.

Stretching out into Rivoli Bay it is great for fishing with salmon, whiting, mulloway and flathead often being caught from the jetty.

Work started on building the original Beachport Jetty in 1878 and it has been well looked after since then.

It plays an important part to the town with Lobster fishing a major employer for the area.

Bowman Scenic Drive

The Bowman Scenic Drive hugs the rugged coast line in and around Beachport with the route starting at the roundabout at Railway Terrace and Beach Road.

Head up Beach Road to Glenn’s Point where you can take a walk to the Cape Martin Light House and look out at the remains of the old lighthouse.

In the distance is Penguin Island which is used as a breeding ground for penguins, fur seals and seagulls.

Continue the drive to McArthurs Place where you can stop at the various viewpoints to view the rocky outcrops.

For spectacular views, stop at Backler’s Lookout and Downs Lookout.

The blowholes at Bartlett Rocks is the end of the drive for 2WD vehicles and only those with 4WD vehicles can continue the track past this point.

Pool of Siloam
Pool of Siloam

Pool of Siloam

The Pool of Siloam is a popular swimming spot all year round and perfect sheltered area for kids to learn to swim.

The lake is said to be seven times more salty than the ocean.

Due to the salt content of the water, you can float around in the calm waters which are believed to relieve body aches and pains especially for those suffering from arthritis.

Salmon Hole

One of the other stops along the Bowman Scenic Drive is the Salmon Hole.

The 600 metre curved beach with its curved beachrock reef provides a relatively calm lagoon or hole between the beach and the reef.

The Salmon Hole is a popular spot for fishing from the beach or the rock platforms.

Access to the beach which is backed by a 10-2 metre dune is via a small car park at each end.

Bartlett Rock Blowholes

The Bartlett Rock Blowholes are another of the highlights along the Bowman Scenic Drive.

When the conditions are right you can see the three blowholes erupt from strong wind and waves.

Caravan Parks

Rollingstone Caravan Park, Rollingstone Qld

Big 4 Rollingstone

The beachside Rollingstone Caravan Park is a park we had on our map before leaving home.

We had heard lots of great reviews about it and decided we needed to see it for ourselves.

Rollingstone is a quiet little regional town and has just one store operating as a combined grocery store, Post Office and fuel station.

Originally Rollingstone was named Armidale but the name was changed to avoid confusion with the town of the same name in New South Wales.

Fabulous resort style pool at the Rollingstone Caravan Park
Rollingstone Caravan Park Resort style pool

There were not many people here during our stay however the southerners were making their way up for winter and it wasn’t long before the park would be busy.

Rollingstone Accommodation is available along the oceanfront or beside the lakes in either cabins and villas or powered and unpowered sites for caravans and motorhomes.

The sites are large and easy to navigate for either a Caravan or big Motorhome.

Rollingstone Caravan Park Facilities

The amenities have the biggest showers we’ve seen so far and are very modern and clean and there is a big resort style pool with a cave and waterfall.

Lakes at Rollingstone Beach Caravan Park

We had good phone coverage with Telstra.

There are 3 Dams full with Barrimundi which you can catch and release. A BMX track and basketball court is also onsite.

A great camp kitchen is available plus there’s a Cafe & Cocktail Bar and outdoor movies.

5 Essentials – Outside RV Accessories

  1. To plug your RV with standard 15amp in to standard residential 10amp power source you will need a converter. We love our waterproof Ampfibian and after over 4 years it’s still perfect.
  2. Most people carry a Generator for back up power. 4wd Supacentre has a good low cost and popular generator while the Yamaha 2000w is a robust yet quiet excellent performer.
  3. A 20m 15amp Power Lead will ensure you reach your power source in Caravan Parks and Campgrounds.
  4. You will want a good blue Drinking Water Hose. Your typical green garden hose is not suitable for drinking from.
  5. A 4 way tap handle will help you find water whenever you need it

About Kalgoorlie

A few decades ago Kalgoorlie was a wild west town of single miners, working hard, playing hard and making a lot of money.

Caravan Parks

Esperance Caravan Park, Western Australia

We arrived in town looking for a pet friendly Esperance Caravan Park and after a bad experience elsewhere we found the Pine Grove Holiday Park.

This was the Esperance Caravan Park we were looking for and we ended up really enjoying our stay.

The on-site Managers were super friendly and helped with some great advice about what to do around the region.

Our Esperance Caravan Park Campsiste

About Esperance

Esperance is located on the southern coastline of Western Australia, 713 kms from the capital city of Perth.

The towns reputation has been built on the truly spectacular beaches in the region.

Tourism during the summer months ensures the Esperance Caravan Parks are very busy and finding accommodation can be a challenge.

The drive from Albany east to Esperance is approximately 5 hours.

From Esperance north to Norseman it is a 2 hour drive of about 200 kms before the long 1000 km drive east across the Nullarbor to South Australia.

Esperance Weather

We were fortunate to have fairly good weather during our stay in Esperance.

It was early December and the temperature was still cool but it wasn’t windy and didn’t rain.

The weather in Esperance is often subjected to cold Antarctic winds and cool temps but it can get very warm during the summer months.

Esperance Caravan Park Pool

All about the Pine Grove Holiday Park

We considered this Esperance Caravan Park to be fantastic value.

It’s an older park with basic facilities but it was clean throughout our stay.

There’s a one way road around the Pine Grove Holiday Park with the powered sites to the front of the park and unpowered sites down the back.

The park includes a swimming Pool and a small camp kitchen with BBQ’s next to it.

Also there is a small recreation room available for a bit of fun.

Dogs are allowed at this Esperance Caravan Park however there may be some restrictions on which dogs are permitted.

They may restrict large dogs however and the website states that rottweilers and pit bull terriers are not allowed.

You should let the staff know you have a dog when you book your site and discuss with them about your pet.

Our preferrred Esperance Caravan Park - Pine Grove Holiday Park

The sites are larger than the other Esperance Caravan Parks providing a bit more space than many other parks.

There’s a large choice of ensuite sites too if you would prefer one.

There’s a children’s playground and a small recreation room to entertain the kids for awhile.

The park offers gas bottle refills or you can choose to swap your gas bottle if preferred.

There is a laundry on site however there is no dump point. A public dump point is located close by.

The park can get some road noise during the day but by night it is mostly quiet.

If road noise bothers you, you can stay in the unpowered section at the back away from the road which is really good value.

We liked that this park as it was cheaper than the other Esperance Caravan Parks and the older facilities didn’t bother us.

The Pine Grove Holiday Park is just a short 5 minute drive to the local beaches and the town centre.

There is Free Wifi albeit limited at 100 megabytes.

We had good phone coverage with the Telstra network during our stay.

The onsite managers at the Pine Grove Holiday Park were super friendly during our stay but they have moved on now.

Cost to Stay at this Esperance Caravan Park

Cost to stay is $38 powered for 2 adults
Unpowered sites are $20 a night
Ensuite sites are also available

Our stay was 5-7th December 2016
